MHA sad to learn of Mary Brown's passing

Mary Brown and late husband, Edwin, honored

Mary Brown, wife of one of the founders of Maritime Heritage Alliance passed away on November 11, 2013, at the age of 94.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Brown.  Mary was responsible for approving the establishment of the Ed Brown Memorial Fund at MHA.

She was present at the Spring 2012 Potluck Supper where she and Edwin were honored by having MHA's Building #1 renamed  the "Edwin and Mary Brown Boat Shop No. 1."  The sign, pictured above with Mary, was made by MHA member, Howard Byrne. It hangs above the entrance to the Boat Shop located at 13268 S West-Bay Shore Drive in Traverse City.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m., with a visitation at 10 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 222 Cass St., Traverse City, MI 49684. Refreshments will be served at the church after the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Morris, Ill., where graveside services will be held in the spring, according the the obituary published in the Record-Eagle Friday, Nov. 15.
