The mission of Maritime Heritage Alliance is to preserve, interpret, and share the maritime heritage of the Great Lakes.
Over the past 30 years, MHA has pursued this mission, with the help of dedicated volunteers and the support of the local community.
A love of classic wooden boats brought the original members of the MHA together. They shared a desire to preserve and build boats that had some historical interest from the Grand Traverse Bay area. Today, the work continues in MHA's two boat shops, the Edwin and Mary Brown Restoration Shop and the Peter Henry Boat Shop, named for early members who contributed their vision and skills to furthering the MHA's mission.
