Community events

Maritime Heritage Alliance's members support community activities throughout the year. In 2013 and 2014, MHA participated in the Michigan Adopt-a-Highway program and the Cherry Royale parade in downtown Traverse City. In September, 2012 MHA volunteers joined others for the United Way Day of Caring and worked to clean up the History Center.  In September, 2013, MHA members participated in the United Way Day of Caring by painting a fence around a local nonprofit organization's building. Also in September 2012 and 2013, Peter Simon and MHA members were available to chat with visitors at Heritage Days at the History Center about the route of the voyageurs, as they travelled across the Great Lakes in their birch bark canoes. MHA's replica voyageur canoe was on display for the event.
